Recovering facial pose with the EM algorithm
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes how 3D facial pose may be estimated by 3tting a template to 2D feature locations. The 3tting process is realised as projecting the control points of a 3D template onto the 2D feature locations under orthographic projection. The parameters of the orthographic projection are iteratively estimated using the EM algorithm. The method is evaluated on both contrived data with known ground-truth together with some more naturalistic imagery. These experiments reveal that under favourable conditions the algorithm can estimate facial pitch to within 3 ◦ . ? 2002 Pattern Recognition Society. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. Estimating 3D Facial Pose using the EM Algorithm

متن کاملRecovering Perspective Pose with a Dual Step EM Algorithm
This paper describes a new approach to extracting 3D perspective structure from 2D point-sets. The novel feature is to unify the tasks of estimating transformation geometry and identifying pointcorrespondence matches. Unification is realised by constructing a mixture model over the bi-partite graph representing the correspondence match and by effecting optimisation using the EM algorithm. Accor...
متن کاملFacial Landmarking Localization for Emotion Recognition Using Bayesian Shape Models
This work presents a framework for emotion recognition, based in facial expression analysis using Bayesian Shape Models (BSM) for facial landmarking localization. The Facial Action Coding System (FACS) compliant facial feature tracking based on Bayesian Shape Model. The BSM estimate the parameters of the model with an implementation of the EM algorithm. We describe the characterization methodol...
متن کاملUnsupervised Discovery of Facial Events: Learning a Dynamic Vocabulary for Facial Analysis
Automatic facial image analysis is a long standing research problem in computer vision. A key component in facial image analysis, largely conditioning the success of subsequent algorithms (e.g. facial expression recognition), is to define a vocabulary of possible dynamic facial events. To date, that vocabulary has come from the anatomically based Facial Action Coding System (FACS) or taxonomies...

While the identity is preserved...
